Whether you’re creating graphics for social media or designing collateral material for an upcoming event, the application of graphic design is vast and versatile. From font selection and pairing to alignment and white space, the facets of the design world are complex. Understanding key design tips can help you through the creative process’s pits and peaks. After we cover the foundations, we’ll look at two popular DIY design tools, Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud Express. These web-based apps with DIY drag-and-drop design in mind are perfect for putting your design fundamentals into practice.

About Our Speaker

As Program Coordinator, Internship Coordinator, and Associate Professor for the Graphic Design program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Nancy aims to empower students with cutting-edge industry technologies and practical field expectations vital to their professional success. Her primary goal as an educator is excellence in career preparation. She draws from her 20+ years of experience in the field to support this goal. Early in her career, Nancy worked as an in-house designer for Nike Inc. and a contract packaging designer for several global brands, including Burton and Home Depot. After relocating to Texas from the Northwest, she worked as Creative Director at the largest advertising agency in South Texas, leading creative promotional efforts to bring products and services to market for regional and national clients. Outside of teaching, Nancy often works with small businesses and non-profit organizations to elevate their brand design and digital presence for deeper, more memorable connections with their customers and audiences.
